I enjoy being transparent with you all, and I just wanted to let you know that it has been a bit of a slow start to the season over the past few days here from me. It has been an exciting week or so, and I will be posting much more moving forward.

I didn't have the pieces I wanted out for the weekend as I had an extended period of time without power after Hurricane Fiona hit Nova Scotia pretty hard. We are all still working pretty hard to get things cleaned up (Trees, power poles/lines all over the road, etc.) and such. Everything is good here now, and I am looking forward to the season!

I am just glad that you and my many friends in Nova Scotia are safe. I think you are a fabulous poster and we Jets fans appreciate all the hard work you put in providing us with depth analysis of our beloved team!

Very sorry to read about how you have been affected by Fiona. We had Hurricane force winds hit Vancouver Island a few Christmases ago and it devastated most of the southern part of the island and took months to get back to normal.

Back to the Jets. I hope Bowness keeps the best players out of camp and not players because of reputation or experience. However his reputation and past actions indicate he will be a lot like his predecessor filling his bottom 6 with slow, timid, untalented vets and keep their mistake prone veteran d-men over players that outplayed them in camp. Time will tell.

Yeah, Cape Breton and Newfoundland got hit a lot harder than I did, but the entire county I live it currently has no gasoline, many still without power. I think everybody in the entire province was without power for at least 48 hours. No damage to my house, and just some parishable foods were throw out. I am very fortunate.

It will be really interesting to see how things shape out for game #1. It has been so long since a fresh set of eyes came into the organization. I am excited for Bowness, and to see how he constucts everything. The biggest priority should be getting Ehlers the minutes he deserves.

Jacob. Keep up the great work. Love your dedication. Best wishes on the Fiona recovery .

I watched most of the game last night. Its early but with the obvious exceptions of guys like Connor and Ehlers , most of the guys on the ice looked like they were skating on sandpaper. I also have not noticed much change in the Jets systems as of yet. Its early though !

The one thing that I am willing to predict is that I think Tonninato has about a 25% chance of being in the starting lineup. In the first two games I have seen so much more out of guys like Eyssimont, Gustaffson, Torgesson , and Maenalanen. I think one or more of these guys start on opening night. I also expect Morgan Barron to be iin that mix.

Heinola made a mistake or two but overall looks good. A bit less impressed with Samberg so far . Need to see him a bit more to get a better picture. Stanley seems very much on the bubble.

I also think the Sens have a great young crop of talent and could easily beat out a team like the Bruins for the last playoff spot. An exciting yooung upcoming team .

Torgersson is going to be hard to keep out of the lineup with how he has been playing. As of right now, the contenders for the bottom-six are Lowry, Barron, Appleton, Toninato, Harkins, Gagner, Gustafsson, Torgersson and Eyssimont. That is 9 guys for 6 spots. The last 3 are showing that they deserve a spot, I am really interested in seeing how Bowness manages that.

So.
You're Jets looked pretty lethargic against the "C" crew from Ottawa. I sympathize with any Jets fan that paid to see what Ottawa sent out there. The general rule of thumb is that it has to be a minimum of 5 legit NHLers. That was a stretch.

Even so. Until your team started moving their feet a tad and getting some powerplays they all looked pretty un-interested in playing the Belleville Sens.

I think Toninato and Gagner are the typical press box players. With Barron being injured, I can see him starting on the Moose as long as he’s exempt from waivers. Torgersson in my opinion will earn the opening night left wing spot with Lowry and Appleton. I think Gustafson will start the season centering the 4th line… no idea who will be his wingers as of yet. Many options. Will depend on how the rest of camp unfolds.

You do realize that Gagner had more points than anyone in our bottom 6 last year.

Just a tidbit...
From last night's lineup: 12 of the 20 players dressed combined for $ 55.5 million of cap space.
Helly, Morrissey, Pionk, Dilllon, Samberg, Scheifele, Ehlers, Lowry, Wheeler, Connor, Perfetti, Toninato.

Good thing we won !

There are basically two spots up for grabs because I believe Gagne and Barron are already locks on the bottom two lines. I believe Gustafson gets one of those spots due to his good play so far and his waiver status. The other spot remains TBD.

Reichel or Maenalanen would be just fine by me.

Just don’t default it to Harkins because of just because.

Honestly, keep Harkins as the 14, and have both of those two around above him

I agree about Harkins, what has he done to keep his job? He’s invisible, mikey Essy has earned Harkins spot in my book

Harkins is an AHL franchise player. He’s missing too much to be a true NHLer, but is beyond the AHL.

Make him Moose captain for the next decade, and call it a day
